What is the Standard Size of a Diploma?

You may have seen one diploma and remembered how big it was, and assumed that all diplomas are of the same size. However, that's not the case at all.

In the United States, there's no standard size for diplomas. You might come across diplomas that are 8" x 6" (20.32x15.24 cm), 8.5" x 11" (21.59x27.94 cm), 11" x 14" (27.94x35.56 cm), or 12" x 15". But different schools may use bigger or smaller sizes. For example, Harvard has 9" x 12" diplomas, while Stanford has 10.5" x 13.5" diplomas. Ivy League schools generally have larger diplomas compared to other universities.

Furthermore, when it comes to schools outside of the United States, the sizes can vary even more. But don't worry, we take note of what size is best for each diploma. Our designer conducts research, matches the details to your order, and ensures the best print possible.

What Weight is Diploma Paper?

If you're someone who prints out stuff like contracts or resumes, you'll probably notice that the paper is usually pretty thin. But when it comes to diplomas, they're printed on thicker paper called parchment. At Diploma Company, we use heavy-duty paper like this for all our diploma and certificate requests. This kind of paper is acid-free and usually has a weight ranging from 28 (12.071 kg) to 92 pounds (41.73 kg), according to industry standards. We know which weight is best for each type of diploma, and we use this info during the printing process. For example, most certificates (but not all) are printed on 24-pound (10.886 kg) paper.

What colour is diploma paper?

Diplomas and certificates are often printed on off-white or new-white paper. Other documents can often be pewter, aged, or natural. We keep detailed notes on what paper colour is best for what diploma. This ensures the proper paper colour is accessed before the final printing and any orders quickly ship out from our print shop.

Most transcripts or academic records are printed on special security paper, which is designed to have multiple security features. These features include:

  1. Words such as "VOID" or "COPY" that appear when the document is copied or scanned, serving as a protective measure against unauthorized duplication.
  2. Delicate security fibers embedded in the paper, adding an extra layer of protection against tampering or forgery.
  3. Offering #60 weight, slightly less weight than diploma paper, but still very durable.
  4. Glowing fibers that can be detected under certain lighting conditions, serving as a visual authentication feature.

This is the type of paper that a school's registrar's office typically uses to print official records, and we stock this paper in our warehouse. It's available in various colours and formats to suit different needs.

The use of security paper is one of the advantages we have in creating high-quality novelties. Our goal is to craft fake transcripts from high schools and colleges that will surprise and impress people. However, achieving this level of quality is not possible without using the best paper. When you request a transcript on our site, our staff checks our records, selects the best security paper option, and gets to work, ensuring that every detail is taken into account to create an authentic-looking document.
